Banana bread and zucchini bread are both delicious, but what about when you combine them together into one recipe? It is extra delicious! Add some mini chocolate chips and you have a yummy muffin that is sure to be a hit with the whole family.

We love muffins in our house and I'm always coming up with different ones to try. We almost always have zucchini to use up in the late summer as well. Finding new ways to enjoy zucchini is a always a good thing for us as we usually have some shredded in the freezer, too.

Muffins are such a great weekday morning breakfast. They are perfect for a grab and go breakfast and also a nice side to pair with scrambled eggs and fruit for a bigger meal. Muffins are also terrific to add to lunchboxes or have as an after school snack.

Muffins are a pretty simple thing to make as well. As long as you have a muffin baking tin, you can make muffins with some baking staples and flavor them up in some many different ways.

When you are baking with bananas, always be sure to chose ones that are very ripe. They should be soft and browned at least a bit. The more ripe they are, the more flavorful they will be in these muffins.

If you want to skip the chocolate chips, you can use some finely chopped pecans or walnuts instead (or use half chocolate chips and half nuts).

How to cook Chocolate Chip Zucchini Banana Muffins

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease or spray a standard muffin tin.
  2. In a medium bowl whisk together the flour through cinnamon. In a large bowl, whisk together the banana through applesauce. Stir the dry ingredients into the wet and fold in the chocolate chips.
  3. Divide the batter equally among the 12 muffins cups. Bake for 18-22 minutes, until the edges are golden and an inserted toothpick comes out clean.
  4. Let cool before removing from the tin. Store leftover muffins in an airtight container.
